    • 8 points for driving 21-40 miles over the speed limit
    • 11 points for driving 41 miles or more over the speed limit

    If an individual receives 11 points on their license within an 18 months period, their license may be suspended.

    Cost of a Speeding Ticket

    The cost of every speeding ticket can vary depending on the driver’s speed and where they were issued the ticket. If an individual is issued a ticket in New York City, there is a greater chance they will be required to pay more than those in rural areas. If an individual accumulates 6 or more points on their license within an 18 month time period, they may be subject to a Driver Responsibility Assessment fine. This costs $100 every year for 3 years. Any individual who receives more than 6 points on their license must pay an additional $25 fine for each point.
