I am attorney Karl Seman. From an early age, I defended the underdog. I would come to the rescue of bullied classmates, and confront and challenge unfair public school teachers, administrators, and practices. These experiences led me on a journey to a legal career that is now approaching 25 years of defending my clients' rights in civil litigation, criminal defense, drunk driving, and suspended license cases.

I learned early on that knowledge is power, and nothing is more powerful than knowledge of the law and using it to one's advantage. I graduated at the top of my class at the School for Criminal Justice, Northeastern University, in Boston, Massachusetts. As an undergraduate student, I not only excelled and earned numerous honors and awards, but my thirst for legal knowledge led me to work in the Massachusetts Office of the Attorney General and the Arlington Police Department, defending those most in need of legal assistance. It was here that I began to practice and use the power of the law to help the disadvantaged.
I knew that the practice of law and criminal defense was for me. I attended law school at the Washington School of Law at the American University, Washington, D.C. because it offered an especially challenging trial and litigation clinical curriculum. While in Washington, I worked at the Department of Justice, U.S. Attorney's Office for Washington, D.C., and for a Washington, D.C. Criminal Court Judge, as well as for the former Chief Assistant Prosecutor for the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Upon graduation, I was presented with several lucrative offers from some of the nation's biggest law firms. But knowing that I craved courtroom trial work, I accepted a position for considerably less money with the Office of the District Attorney on Long Island. By my third day on the job, I was in court handling my first criminal hearing. Ever since then I have been in court standing up for the downtrodden.
It was this background that led me to start Grunwald & Seman, P.C. with my partner, Milton Grunwald.
